St. Silas 4 v 1 EK Baptist. Another victory for St. Silas this time we were back to something of our old selves. We had that bit of extra dig that has been lacking in recent games. Midfield performed well especially the boy with the flowing locks who deservedly got man of the match today with a fine performance in the midfield.
Frank was on target 3 times again today and John conrtributed with 1. The game started well with St. Silas going 1 nil up inside 5 minutes and then 2 nil up after 15 mins. We then got a penalty which was missed by John. 5 minutes before half time John had made it 3 nil. Second half Frank completed his hatrick and they pulled one back. Overall an excellent performance. Slightly marred by a couple of silly bookings that I thought we had dealt with in the past but they suddenly rared there ugly heads again.
Davey our right back got angry and adopted a threatening manner to which the referee (who was excellent) quite rightly had a word with him and then our goalkeeper Derek who is infamous in the league for having a few blow ups in his time decided today was the day to have another one. Fortunately he was also spoken to by the referee and calmed down by our team which was good to see.
Once again we will have to deal with the issues surrounding these minor incidences but to Davey's credit he was ok after the blow up he had. Derek does well to control the anger that he has built up but sometimes it slips out and he gets himself into trouble. This apart he is the best goalkeeper we have had since starting the team and it is a privelege to work with him.
A special mention for Gordon this week who at the start of the game I asked him to give me 45 minutes of complete committment and he did this with a brilliant first half display. Obviously he was kanckered 10 minutes into the second half but he had done his job. William and Olly also got a run out today which was good to be able to do that. They both did well when they came on.
Valley Boy and the Chairman were solid in the middle, Murdo and Davey played well and Ali also had a good game with plenty of running and tackling. John run his heart out and assures me that is the first and last time he will go out drinking on a Friday night. Well done lads. It was also good to see Gadget Vicar there today although I didn't notice until nearly the end sorry for that and sorry we never got the chance to have a chat after the game.
