I haven't blogged for a week but here is the catch up from last week and comments with regard to the game this week.
Last week we won 6 v 2 against CEC2 which was a very good game, tough and competetive but played in a good spirit. We actually went 1 nil down and then come back to win 6 v 2 with hat tricks from both James Ghattas & Chris Malone. Our MOM was James Connelly. Overall it was a very good team performance from everyone. Again Chris led the team very well and scored a fantastic goal to make it 2 v 1. We were disciplined although we did pick up 1 booking but the referee was fair to both teams. We however stuck to our game plan and performed very well. CEC 2 were down to 10 men 10 minutes into the game but they played very well and were hard to break down they did very well.
This week and what can I say an absolute shambles from the team we never turned up and lost 3 v 2. Our discipline was horrendous we had six bookings and 1 sending off. We just could not calm down and not take the bait. Our discipline needs to improve as this was a black Saturday for us as a team. All the hard work we have done in the last 15 matches was blown apart from moments of madness and indiscipline from several players. Chris our captain remained disciplined as did Graham who as always were both fine examples of a well disciplined performance. Unfortunately some of our players took the bait of certain Houston players and although the card count would suggest that it was a really bad game it was not. Not one serious foul, language was at a minimum the referee actually spoilt what was a tough competetive game as it usually is with Houston. They had one player booked but know one apart from the referee actually knows why. As a team we need to grow up and get on with it we can outplay any team in Division 2 and win by just playing football that is not boasting it is that we are that good when we turn up and play in a disciplined way. Unfortunately Derek P is still living in our season winning side and so seems to remember what players have done to him in the past and then enacts revenge on them in games that are nothing to do with the past. He came off today after being booked and walked away he did not even stay for the second half that disppoints me as I have stuck by him and warned him one booking meanms coming off. I did not want him sent off. James C had an off day but still needs to go along with the game as a team we need to smarten up as they are a dream come true for a team that can wind them up.
Very dissapointed today but we have one more game left and hopefully we can learn from todays and go on to bigger and better things for next season.
Church is going well and I have had an interesting and busy week planning for the future and leading a fellowship group at the MHA place attached to the church in Milton. If I stop being busy I may even make it to the church next Sunday unfortunately I am busy this Sunday. I will be leading the bible study Monday evening.
