Cherish 2008 - awesome!  It's unlike any other women's conference or experience.  Everything was total excellence.  Too much to say other than simply awesome!!!   Book now for Cherish 2009 ... to be continued! 

Met up with Bruce, which was nice even though it was a flying visit amidst the conference sessions.

The song that will always remind me of this conference and the 2000 women worshiping and committing together to make a difference in this world - here in the UK and overseas - is the song Hosanna from Hillsong.  Simply awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Thank you Lord - you are amazing!

I surrender all

At Easter Friday, as we await the glorious Sunday that reminds us of Christ's victorious resurrection, I wonder about the kind of response that we can make to our Lord and Saviour who offered himself as the perfect atoning sacrifice.  What is worthy?  Our worship is worthy - the 'reasonable' or 'spiritual' worship that is talked about in Romans 12:1-2.

I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your 'spiritual worship'.  Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.

We are not to conform to man's ways but are to surrender to the will of God, to be transformed more into the likeness of Christ.  It may seem trite to sing about surrendering ourselves to God - and we may think easier said than done - but it's what we need to be real and serious about.  I remember a church elder leading a worship service and challenging the congregation to sing 'I surrender all', and said, "If you don't mean it, don't sing it!"  And if you choose to sing it be prepared for God to work!  Check out the videoclip in video links.

Jesus Friend of Sinners

I'm reminded today of an old friend and the most amazing youth worker I ever had the pleasure of working with, with such a heart for people that she poured herself into their lives and made a big difference.  She used to say to me, "Once I can get my life sorted out, then God might be interested in me.  I'm too much of a sinner." 

God isn't interested in our past but wants to influence our future.  God's not waiting for us to get our life sorted out, as the problem of sin has already been dealt with at the cross.  God simply asks us to believe in Him and trust Him; to come and receive forgiveness, reconciliation and restoration.  The work of transformation is done by the Holy Spirit.  I love the wee saying, 'God loves us just the way we are, but loves us too much to leave us that way'.  God doesn't want to change us because we have no value as we are.  God created us to be exactly who we are - no mistakes made - with our own unique character and personality!  But God wants to transform us to be more like our original self more like who we see in Christ - to become more 'human' - that's His perfect will for us.  It's the divine plan for us and God knows best.  If you don't read the bible then think about this tiny one liner.  It shows exactly how God feels about everyone of us.

Rom. 5:8 But God proves his love for us in that while we still were sinners Christ died for us.
